USAID Feed the Future Uganda Institutional and Systems Strengthening (ISS) Activity
Under the USAID Feed the Future Uganda Institutional and Systems Strengthening (ISS) Activity (2021 to 2026), JAA helps improve the development and implementation of agriculture policy to drive inclusive agriculture-led economic growth. The ISS Activity works with Government of Uganda (GOU) ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), and Industry Apex Organizations (IAOs) to strengthen their institutional capacity as key participants in the agriculture governance system. The Activity is improving accountability, responsiveness, and performance of key national-level MDAs and industry apex organizations, enabling them to fulfill their mandates. As a subcontractor to DT Global, JAA is working with MDAs and IAOs to facilitate the business-enabling environment through innovative policy reforms to improve the quality and quantity of legislative and regulatory reforms. JAA also provides technical assistance to strengthen IAOs' institutional performance and responsiveness to their members. JAA conducts annual Organizational Capacity Assessments and quarterly performance improvement plan reviews with IAOs. JAA assists IAOs with advocacy capacity-building training and advocacy campaigns to enhance their ability to engage in public policy processes, advocate for members' concerns, and support the implementation of policies related to the agriculture sector and trade.
