The second edition of the conference on Public and Private Partnership in the DRC was held from February 28 to March 1, 2022 at the Pullman Hotel in Kinshasa. The theme of the conference was : “The Public and Private Partnership approach, a real asset for the Agricultural, Environmental, Energy sector and Infrastructure Development in the DRC”.
The objective of the conference was to further contribute to raising awareness among private sector actors, mainly those operating in agriculture but those operating in other cross-cutting sectors, particularly in the environment, the energy and infrastructure as well as the public sector to invest more in the development of PPPs.
The workshop was attended by 60 people from the private sector (business associations, corporations of lawyers, the network of cooperatives of coffee and cocoa producers), the public sector, in particular the National Office for Agricultural Products of Congo, the National Institute for the Conservation of Nature, the National Agency for Rural Electrification , ONAPAC, ICCN, ANSER, Experts from the Presidency of the Republic, and development agencies (Feed the future, USAID, AFD ( Proparco ), PWC).
The participants discussed the barriers to economic growth in coffee, tea, and private sector development in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They encouraged private actors to invest in PPPs at the provincial and local level in the various sectors with opportunities, in particular the agricultural, environmental, tourism and energy sectors. On the agricultural side, it is up to cooperatives and other members of the private sector to capitalize and invest in the PPP opportunities identified during the conference.
