J.E. Austin promotes innovation in African bicycle markets
J.E. Austin Associates and its local Ghanaian partner, Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) have initiated their new joint pilot activity under the USAID Bicycles for Growth project focused on identifying and developing innovations for the bicycle market in Ghana.
An initial sensitization meeting provided stakeholders with a comprehensive understanding of the USAID Bicycles for Growth project’s objectives and expected outcomes, with an emphasis on bicycle business innovation. During the interactive sessions, participants from various segments of the bicycle value chain, including retailers, wholesalers, repairers, and business development service providers, shared diverse perspectives and insights. These contributions will help refine the project’s implementation framework on the business innovation component for greater impact.
KIC has been contracted by J.E. Austin Associates to implement the business innovation component of the USAID Bicycles for Growth project.
In the coming days, KIC will reach out to young entrepreneurs in northern Ghana to develop innovative ideas along the bicycle value chain. Through a competitive process, those with the most promising concepts will receive technical and funding support under the USAID Bicycles for Growth project to establish and run their businesses. This initiative is part of the project's broader activities to improve sustainable access to affordable, fit-for-purpose bicycles in Ghana.
