Lebanon TAMKIN – Municipal Capacity Building
Lebanon TAMKIN – Municipal Capacity Building
JAA was a core member of the consortium that implemented the 5-year Lebanon Municipal Capacity Building (TAMKIN) program, which supported municipal capacity building and service delivery in northern Lebanon. TAMKIN transformed 63 peri-urban and rural municipalities in Lebanon into effective agents for leading local socio-economic development through democratic engagement with the private sector and citizenry. JAA provided technical resources and tools in economic development (i.e., economic mapping), strengthening of Municipal Development Councils (i.e., leadership mapping), and developing private-public partnerships to promote innovation and investment in the Lebanese context based on global best practices. The project’s results-oriented approach built confidence in municipal leaders, creates sustainable employment, and increases the incomes of low and middle-income Lebanese citizens living in northern Lebanon.
